📘 Comprehension Passage: A Visit to the Zoo
Last Sunday, Rahul and his family went to the zoo. It was a bright and sunny day. Rahul was very excited because he loves animals. They reached the zoo at 10 a.m. and bought tickets at the entrance. The zoo was full of visitors. There were many children with their parents.
The first animals Rahul saw were the elephants. They were large and grey, and one of them was spraying water with its trunk. Rahul laughed at its funny behaviour. Then they saw a group of monkeys jumping from one tree to another. One monkey even made a face at Rahul, which made everyone laugh.
They also visited the lion’s enclosure. The lion was sleeping under a tree. Rahul waited patiently, and after a while, the lion stood up and roared loudly. It was a powerful sound, and Rahul felt both scared and thrilled. In the bird section, he saw colourful parrots, peacocks, and even a white owl. The birds were chirping and flying around in big cages.
Rahul’s parents bought him some snacks and a bottle of juice. They all sat near a small pond to eat. Ducks were swimming in the pond, and some children were feeding them bits of bread. After lunch, Rahul took pictures of the animals with his father’s phone.
Before leaving, they visited the gift shop. Rahul chose a keychain with a tiger on it. He was tired but happy. It was one of the best days of his life. He decided to write about the zoo visit in his school diary the next day.
